Amway responds to UK case dismissal PDF Print E-mail
Written by IBOFightBack

Amway Media Blog has a post up, A sufficient salutary lesson, as well as the following letter to Amway Global employees and Executive Diamonds and above -

To: Global Employees
Global EDC and above

From: Steve Van Andel and Doug DeVos
Subject: Amway wins in UK

We are pleased to share with you the news that the United Kingdom’s High Court has dismissed all government claims against Amway UK, validating the significant reforms we have made to the business model in that market.

We are happy for our UK colleagues and distributors, who have stood by us through an unimaginably difficult year of uncertainty and doubt. We owe them our gratitude – and our commitment to work hard to grow the UK market.

We are also gratified that the direct selling business model received validation from the court – as courts and regulators around the world have done for nearly 50 years.

But this is not a pop-the-champagne victory. This is a reminder that the marketplace and regulators hold us to the highest standards. We have an obligation to meet those standards – and we intend to do so.

There was good news: Support for the concept of multi-level marketing. Recognition of Amway’s efforts to message clearly in company materials.

Most important, the judge found our “radical changes” in the market to be “fully formulated, comprehensive, open and transparent, and capable of effective and ongoing implementation without the supervision of the Secretary of State or the Court.”

There is no mistaking that the changes Amway made impacted the judge’s decision.

Even though he dismissed all three claims against us, the judge also had harsh words for Amway. He was not pleased with the way some IBO organizations had misrepresented the opportunity in the UK, and held us responsible for failing to enforce our rules.

We took issue with the government’s numbers in the case, and we disagree with some of the judge’s conclusions. In particular, our commitment to reform, in the UK and elsewhere, preceded the initiation of the case.

But that does not mean we do not understand what the judge meant when he wrote:

“I consider a winding up order to be disproportionate. The Secretary of State’s investigation and the presentation of this petition are a sufficient salutary lesson to Amway and a clear warning to its peers that if the risks inherent in the multi-level model are not rigorously controlled then serious and expensive consequences follow.”

We hear the message.

We accept the challenge.

We look forward to working with all of you, employees and leaders, to meet that challenge.

Steve Van Andel and Doug DeVos

UK dismisses claims against Amway PDF Print E-mail
Written by Administrator

Grand Rapids press is reporting that the UK governments claims against Amway have been dismissed by the court hearing the case. The full report -

Amway can stay in England.

A judge in the United Kingdom has dismissed government claims against Amway's operations there, saying major reforms last year fixed faults in its business model.

The ruling clears Amway UK, a part of Ada-based Alticor Inc., of the threat of expulsion from the country, one of Amway's oldest international markets.

Spokesman Rob Zeiger said the ruling was a "solid validation" of reforms implemented by the company to head off regulatory actions last year.

"The company takes the action seriously and continues to review business practices around the world to avoid such regulatory threats in the future," Zeiger said today from England.

"We are determined not to leave things in the future to the courts to tell us to change the way we do business. We need to listen better to what the market wants."

English regulators clamped down on Amway over concerns the company was more focused on selling training materials and less on selling retail products to consumers.

Regulators said the company and its distributors also misrepresented potential earnings from participating in Amway.

Changes introduced last year in the UK in an effort to fend off the court action that led to the ruling included banning non-Amway approved motivational events and materials.

It is unclear exactly what changes were crucial to the dismissal of the case, however my sources tell me it is unlikely that the banning of non-Amway approved events and materials is a part of this. Amway lawyers are reportedly analysing the decision for it's implications, both in the United Kingdom and abroad.

This is great news for Amway Business Owners everywhere, and in particular in the United Kingdom and Ireland. It's my belief this market is a sleeping giant of the Amway world and the path to success there is now wide open. I am particularly encouraged by Rob Zeiger's comments that Amway will in future listen closer to the market andbe more proactive in implementing changes to keep our business model thriving.

I'm not sure of the source or purpose of the following video, but it's the first I've seen promoting the new Amway Global/Quixtar branding. It plays like a TV advertisement, but at a little over 2 mins seems longer than the average ad these days.

If anyone has some details, I'd love to know! Otherwise, what's your thoughts about it?

Artistry Creme Luxury with Sandra Bullock - First Look PDF Print E-mail
Written by IBOFightBack
Friday, 25 April 2008

This appears to be the italian version of a promotional video for Artistry Creme Luxury, a new product to be launched soon in Japan and Europe and endorsed by well known actress Sandra Bullock.

From Amway South Africa Amagram -
For the first time ever, famous actor and producer Sandra Bullock has agreed to put her name behind a product. And not just any product. Soon she will become the face of ARTISTRY™ Créme LuXury, the ARTISTRY™ brand's first luxury offering.

Before agreeing to represent Créme LuXury, Sandra rigorously grilled ARTISTRY™ scientists to learn more about the product. She wanted to know why it outshines other high-end skin care solutions on the market. She needed to trust in the safety of the product. She tested the product herself. Finally, satisfied with - and excited by - the answers she got and the results she experienced, Bullock let her enthusiasm take over. And it shows.

"I don't endorse things that I don't use, that I don't believe in myself," says Sandra. "I was excited to be behind something that I felt really safe and comfortable with, and that, to me, is really important. I've always said no before, because if I wouldn't put it on my own skin I would never ask other women to put it on theirs."

Believing that Créme LuXury is truly an exceptional product, created from true science and true beauty, Sandra will soon share her enthusiasm for the ARTISTRY™ Créme LuXury experience with women the world over.
